Tea houses revisited...

Just a few pics of a project that I am revisiting.  Did these years ago...time to refine it a bit more.
 the body
 funky spout..happy accident
 handle
 with the lid/roof
 shortened the chimney

The last time I did these, I hand built EVERYTHING.  I just didn't have the patience to do it all that way...got to love what the hand builders do.....I'm really liking the spout and will try to duplicate that on purpose in future endeavors...trying to really think outside the box.

more antics...believe it or not, we do learn in this class...

Denise is trying to get her sectional pots to work.
Dr. Knapp is getting things "centered".
 Melody is creating something awesome
And I'm trying to work with some persnickety snow porcelain...not fun.

The latest on my wall

Here are a few additions to the south wall. This is day 6 of painting...note the details around Big Ben, the Zen garden with the addition of the guardian rock aka Charlie.

I love the bone at Charlie's feet...Annabelle's touch!!

Mural...Day 2 & 3

As a "regular" person, I have many - probably too many, projects going on at once. At the immediate present, I have a mural being painted on my property.  My house has over 45 feet of retaining wall in the backyard which was painted the most ugly faded red color. And what with Joplin loosing so much to the tornado on May 22nd, I decided to act on my desire to beautify my house, neighborhood and town.  I have commissioned a very talented artist to paint said walls.  Granted it only required my work in the beginning...and that was enough to almost take my back out.  I discovered exactly how much concrete in surrounding my home...ALL of which was power washed by me. Then I had to prime the walls.  Now, it has begun and I'm loving it.
I do hope to throw quite a bit this weekend and there should be a glaze firing as well. So stay posted...

My mural ...Day 1

another project...or two

Although this is a great release to tell about me and my art, I am working on an "official" website. One where I can no only write about sometimes random thoughts, but actually post my work and possibly sell some pieces along the way.  A big Thank You to my brother in law in California for first having the knowledge and second, maybe more importantly, the patience to help me through this process. ...thanks, Chad I really really appreciate it.
So that is the first project.
The second is a mural in my backyard.  I have approximately 45 linear feet of wall there and it was the most ugly off brick red that you have ever seen. Well, not for long folks. I've commissioned Annabelle Fuhr from Lamar to paint it. And she has started it as of today. I feel like I've been working on it because I was the ever important "prep" person....power washing all those walls (which included all the patios and sidewalks around my house) and priming the walls a bright white. Now, I get to watch Annabelle work...will post a few pictures so you get the idea.

A student!!

Actually, taught my first student tonight even though I tried to delay it a bit. I'm leaving in less than 24 hours to go to ENGLAND for my daughter's wedding. Anyway, Dana's (she is my student) mother would not take no for an answer.  We struggled through five 1.5 pound balls of clay.  She can do it...just needs practice, practice, practice. At least, she said she would be back!!! Does this mean I'm a professional now?

Got to finish packing...see you!
